Writing Sample

To continue the admission process at Compass College of Cinematic Arts, our admissions committee has requested a writing sample from you.

Choose one of the prompts below to answer in a well-considered, thorough essay. The minimum required length is 250 words, but please use whatever amount of space it takes to fully answer the prompt. Please include at least one outside source, cited appropriately using the APA citation and format style.

  1. Describe the innovations you think will happen in digital media arts over the next five years. Include why you think these innovations will occur and provide evidence for this rationale. What role do you think faith-based schools, like Compass College of Cinematic Arts, have in shaping innovations for the digital media arts industry?
  2. Identify one professional you believe is shaping the digital media arts industry right now. This should be an individual who has brought relevance to the world in some social, political, emotional, economic, or other meaningful context. Describe why you chose them and provide evidence for your rationale. In what ways do you want your own work to make a difference in the world? How would the values of a faith-based school, like Compass College of Cinematic Arts, help you achieve those goals?
  3. A finished digital media arts project is the result of many factors, ways of working, and kinds of thinking. Discuss a professional project (for example, a film or television series) that has succeeded largely due to the diversity of its team and provide evidence for your claims. Describe how you integrated differing ideas, experiences, and skillsets into your own creative work, and how the values of a faith-based school, like Compass College of Cinematic Arts, would help you to further such efforts.
