Sources of our Data

Compass College of Cinematic Arts has been in operation for over 20 years. As a result, we have made a name for ourselves in a city that is growing in its recognition. Below is an explanation and a set of links to where this data comes from.


Graduation Rate

Based on internal research.


  • “Private” defines Compass College as a not-for-profit institution.
  • “Accredited” separates Compass College from film schools without a regional or national accreditation.
  • “Film College” clarifies that Compass College is commited purely to film and digital media education and separates the college from schools that offer film programs or majors amongst many other fields of study.

The comparison data for the cost was based on the following criteria.

  • The postes tuition cost on the school’s website.
  • Cost compared for 30 credit hours.
  • Annual fees included in the comparison.
  • No housing or meal costs were included.
1,000 Hours of On-Set Experience

This is based on a cumulative total of in-class labs, class assignments, and time spent on major film projects. This number is specific to those seeking the BFA degree.

Internship Rating

BFA students must complete an externship to graduate. Externship supervisors are required to provide ratings on various aspects of the student’s work. This number is a cumulative average of those scores.

Initial Employment

This data is based on self-reporting sources, public sources (such as LinkedIn or Imdb), and employer feedback. This represents the percentage of graduates employed within 6 months of earning their degree.

Data regarding industry growth was secured from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Current numbers used in marketing are based on projections for growth from 2019 to 2029.
